The Role:
The Role:
Are you an ambitious Business Development Manager looking to work for an award-winning company in the civil sector? Do you have a proven track record of selling into the civil / utility sector? If so, then a role working for a well-established business in this sector could well be worth applying for. You will have experience and working knowledge in a range of civil engineering services including: drainage and sewer connections, Section 278 Highway Agreement works, multi utility diversions, concrete works and foundations, specialist surfacing and reinstatement etc. You will know the industry well and will have worked with tier 1 and 2 customers within it, having a proven sales track record.

As a Business Development Manager, you will spend most of your time in the field, both building relationships and revenue from existing customers, or winning new key accounts. To your customers, you'll be the person who solves their engineering problems. Your conversations will be about identifying and understanding their engineering challenges so that you can recommend solutions. You will of course work closely with local Engineering and Operations teams to deliver these solutions and provide excellent customer service. Your to-do list will include building a healthy pipeline, generating and exploring leads, completing design briefs, negotiating quotes, closing orders and account management. You will be aligned to our Client's Manchester office and will report directly to the Managing Director.

The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Maintaining and developing existing significant customers, building revenues and profitability
* Generating healthy sales pipeline, qualified opportunities and converting them
* Providing coaching and mentoring for sales managers, increasing their capability and knowledge
* Healthy revenue increases in your region from new customers and business won from competitors
* Collaborating with other members of the team on national accounts which have a presence in the portfolio

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* A proven track record of account management and winning new business in the construction / civil sector
* Knowledge and experience of highways and utility works in the construction industry
* A people-focused personality with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
* A hunger for targeting and winning customers who are currently loyal to our Client's competitors
* A strong commercial acumen and be proactive and self-motivated
* The ability to absorb and understand technical information and translate that into customer interactions and design briefs
* Tenacity and a will to win
* A full driving licence, as this is a field-based role
